The mission of Jericho Road Pasadena is to build nonprofit capacity by matching the professional talents of highly qualified volunteers with the needs of community based nonprofit organizations to promote community development, strengthen social services and enrich the lives of volunteers.
In 2015 they extended their match-making services to place board members at local organizations, because knowledgeable and committed leadership is so crucial to non-profit success. The Leadership Connection is comprised of three 3-hour sessions.
Which prepare participants for board duty and also offer substantial individual development. Topics covered by their two experienced trainers are financial and legal oversight, strategic planning, resource development and ambassadorship. The placement of TLC graduates on nonprofit boards supports the health of local non-profits and expands the sense of community spirit and engagement of each participant. Jericho Road also received a grant from the Leo Buscaglia Foundation in 2014.

City Impact Inc.
City Impact Inc. received a grant to help sustain their after-school program for 65 children/youth in community housing for low-income, migrant/agriculture farm workers. The funds will be used for costs associated with employee salary and benefits, program supplies, mileage reimbursement, van expenses, cell phones, Internet access, field trips and nutritious snacks. The mission of City Impact is to promote the educational, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of at-risk/high-risk children, youth and the families they serve through their programs. City Impact also received a grant from the Leo Buscaglia Foundation in 2010.
“City Impact collaborates with Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and local agencies/organizations to work with gang involved youth who need one-on-one intervention to help navigate through the complex process of goal setting, becoming employable, gaining work experience, and obtaining a job. Case Managers (CM) work with youth/young adults (15-24) involved in or at-risk of gang involvement. Individualized service plans are goal-orientated and focus on education, employability and resources needed to overcome barriers. CM’s provide the continuity of services needed for individuals to be successful. Counseling services are also offered in this program for youth and family members.
After-School Program provides educational and enrichment activities at the Recreation Center in Cabrillo Village in Ventura. Our staff assist children and youth with homework assistance, and the opportunity to relax and play in a safe and supervised environment. Physical activity and purposeful play are incorporated into all planned activities (hiking, bowling, swimming, etc.). “

“You don’t need Valentine’s Day to tell someone you care about them! But then again it doesn’t hurt to send someone a little something. Every year around Valentine’s, Big Sunday wants everyone to feel cared for, especially people who might be overlooked. So join us Feb. 10th as we put together goodie packages and write cards for shut-ins, veterans, seniors, hospitals, and many more. Of course, we’ll have a delicious dinner and plenty of games! We’re also collecting shelf-safe foods for the amazing youth homeless shelter, Covenant House California. Let us know you’re coming by signing up; we’re excited to have you! “

The Jester & Pharley Phund
“Our literacy programs give students a unique and engaging way to help ill children while expanding their own reading skills. Children and teachers mirror The Jester’s journey on a Read-A-Thon that earns Jester books and dolls for hospitalized children in their community.
One fourth grader said, “This is the best thing our school has ever done.”
Our educator manuals offer teachers valuable tools to reinvigorate the learning atmosphere with fun, innovative, teacher-originated activities.
For years to come, teachers will benefit from creative, standards-based lesson ideas using concepts in The Jester Has Lost His Jingle to expand learning in all subject areas.
Students at over 180 participating schools have read 40 million pages to bring the Jester’s joy to thousands of ill children around the country.
Educators throughout the country endorse The Jester & Pharley Phund for providing exciting ways to motivate students to expand their reading skills and develop character.”
