Teen Line received a grant to support their crisis hotline, volunteer training and community outreach. Teen Line was established in 1980 to help troubled teenagers in a way they would accept: teens helping teens. Their mission is to provide personal teen-to-teen education and support before problems become a crisis, using a national hotline, current technologies and community outreach.
Two of Teen Line‘s listeners were so inspired by their work on the hotline that the created a Peer Counseling program at their High School. Volunteers are also beneficiaries of Teen Line‘s work; several of their outreach speakers have lost a child to suicide. They give their time to help them with their grief and in hopes to save another parent from the same tragedy.
