South County Outreach received a grant to help pay for the operations of their Hunger and Homeless Prevention Program. The mission and purpose of South County Outreach is to prevent hunger and homelessness by helping people to help themselves. They accomplish this through several different programs that they make available to their community.
Their food pantry distributes almost one million pounds of food a year to more than 3,000 people a month. They also have a computer learning lab program that trains more the 600 adult students a year to increase employment options and a transitional housing program to give a home and provide crucial services to 30 previously homeless families. South County Outreach has served the underemployed and homeless households in crisis since 1989.
