“Highlighting one teacher for our weekly Fellow Friday post is tough, as our exemplary grant recipients are checking in from near and far with updates that inspire wanderlust from behind our computers. In light of this holiday weekend, however, Jean Molloy‘s learning seems most timely…” Click here to read the full article.

Big Sunday
“Sharing some laughs around a delicious meal is one of our favorite things to do at Big Sunday. Well for our Month of Big Sundays, we made sure to spread some joy through food for many of our events, such as cooking a nice breakfast for families with hospitalized children at Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House, enjoying some home-cooked Mexican food for our Friday Fiesta, packing meals for hungry families, and wolfing down some pizza after a hard day’s work of beautifying Lovelia P. Flournoy Elementary.”

“Today has been another representation of the Los Angeles Rams commitment to improving the community. Their entire staff including the 2019 rookie class beautified the Belvedere Elementary School in one of the biggest projects we’ve ever been a part of. Between resources and effort, over $200,000 was invested into this school. It wasn’t just the money, this organization poured their hearts out in a way that let the residents of East LA know that they truly care. Thank you so much Rams!”

A Sense of Home
“This bedroom for two kids to amazing Mom, Fatima was thanks to @jennifer.garner and team as well as our new partner providing beds for kids @hopetodream_west part of @ashleyhomestore who began making amazing donations thanks to the beautiful @kcstauffer family. It truly takes a village for us all to get connected and wrap our collective arms around aged out youth to create a home just as a family would. It is love in action revealing who we truly are and all that can be achieved as a community! Keep hope alive !! #bethechange #heartscreatehomes #heal #bestofla #preventhomelessness #bekind #bestdayever #givingback #loving #agedout #fosteryouth”

A Touch Of Understanding
“Wow what an amazing and unique workshop we had the pleasure to participate in this week at A KID’S LIFE Preschool & Child Care. We presented three different stations to Pre K thru 2nd grade students. The theme this week at their school was “Super Hero’s”. The Founder and CEO Edmond David said ” We learned so much today! Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes, they also come with different super powers!” Hanah, one of our volunteer speakers, was given a gift from the students to help her feel welcome in their classroom. In the words of one student…”It doesn’t matter what you look like or what color your skin is…it matters if you’re kind.” Such an amazing experience…not only for the children we presented to, but for our staff and volunteers as well. Everyone came out a winner…everyone became a “Super Hero!”

Girls Rock SB
“ROCKBAND Every season, for our 10-week after school program, students aged 7-18 are placed in bands based on age and experience level. Students attend weekly classes where they work together to create an original song. Each band has a band coach who serves as an instructor and mentor throughout the session. At the end of the program, students perform in front of a live audience. Here are some pics of our showcase last week at SOHO in Santa Barbara. For our current or former #girlsrocksantabarbara students, can you tell us about your first time performing with your band and how that made you feel?”
