The California Youth Connection is guided, focused and driven
by current and former foster youth with the assistance of other
committed community members. The California Youth Connection promotes
the participation of foster youth in policy development and legislative
change to improve the foster care system. California Youth Connection
strives to work with decision makers to improve social work practice
and child welfare policy.
Goals
- To educate the general public and policy makers about the
unique needs of foster youth and to increase awareness of their
concerns.
- To create an effective organization guided by current and
former foster youth with the assistance of other committed individuals.
- To support youth leadership development of current and former
foster youth at all levels of the organization, including local
chapters and the statewide office.
- To monitor legislation and act as advocates for foster youth.
- To build a national and international advocacy network of
current and former foster youth.
- To make CYC well known nationally and internationally.
- To promote a positive image of foster youth.
