Picture # 1 – Carol, age 57, of Carmichael, CA., skin cancer, was in hospice care. Her simple dream was to have her room “cheered up”, as she spent all of her time there. Volunteers from one of our sponsor companies, Asset Preservation, brought Carol a TV, many books, a new bedspread and baked her favorite berry pie. Carol was joyful over her improved room and a whole new group of friends most important to her, as she had no family.

Picture #2 – Shirley, age 44, Atlanta, GA., breast cancer, was eager to spend the last months of her life making other women aware of the importance of early cancer detection – something she had learned too late. Her problem was that her teeth were in terrible shape and she was ashamed to speak, let alone smile. We found a wonderful dentist in Atlanta, Dr. Raya Akbar, who volunteered her time and all of the costs ($9,465) to give a grateful Shirley, a wonderful smile.

Picture #3 – Sergio, 42, of Corona, CA, a victim, of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) was a lifelong L.A. Lakers fan. He asked us to help him get to a Laker’s game with some of his loving and concerned family members. With the help of the Laker’s  management, Sergio and his family saw a game from a special box and had a “meet and greet” with Laker great, Kobe Bryant. One of our L.A. volunteers accompanied Serge and made the entire event go smoothly.

Picture #4 – This is a photo of Dream Foundation’s loyal group of Flower Empower volunteers. They are of all ages and all walks of life. They meet early every Saturday morning and make dozens of beautiful flower bouquets, made from donated flowers, and deliver them, along with home made cookies and cards made by local kids, to shut-ins in hospitals, care centers and private homes. This is a program special to our home town of Santa Barbara.
